NASA Television will air a news conference at noon EDT on Sunday, April 13 at the agency's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
The briefing will provide an update on the status of the SpaceX-3 launch to the International Space Station, currently scheduled for 4:58 p.m. April 14, and on the failure April 11 of a backup computer component that provides redundancy for commanding the Mobile Transporter rail car on the truss of the station.
The briefing will include International Space Station Program Manager Michael Suffredini.
Space station program officials and representatives of SpaceX are continuing preparations for the launch of the Falcon 9 rocket and the Dragon cargo craft to the space station from Launch Complex 40 at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla.
A final decision on whether to launch Dragon April 14 will not be made until a status meeting is conducted the morning of April 13. If managers decide to press ahead toward the SpaceX-3 launch, a briefing previewing the mission's science and technology cargo will air on NASA TV at 2 p.m.
