It's the first TV show from quirky film/video director Michel Gondry, who reunites with his Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind star Jim Carrey (himself returning to TV as a regular in a scripted, non-sketch TV series for the first time since 1984's The Duck Factory). Carrey plays Mr. Pickles, the increasingly troubled host of a beloved children's television series that looks like a cross betweenMister Rogers' Neighborhood and The Muppet Show. The terrific cast also includes Catherine Keener, Judy Greer, Frank Langella, and Justin Kirk. Gondry is a producer and directs multiple episodes of the series—you'll definitely notice his handiwork in the trailer—which was created byWeeds writer Dave Holstein.
      Rel Comedy 8p
A vehicle for Get Out and The Carmichael Show supporting star Lil Rel Howery, Fox's seco nd new multi-camera sitcom counts several other Carmichael Show veterans among its producers, including Jerrod Carmichael himself, plus Kevin Barnett and Josh Rabinowitz (who are credited as creators along with Howery). Howery plays a version of himself as he tries to build a new life in Chicago as a single father after he discovers that his wife is cheating on him with his barber. (He also needs a new barber.) Sinbad co-stars as Howery's father, and Mike Scully (The Simpsons, Parks and Recreation) is the showrunner. Special premiere tonight; the series moves to Sundays at 9:30p beginning 9/30.

      Manifest Trailer Drama 10p
Give NBC execs credit for resisting the urge to title this one Found. Like Lost but in reverse (and no, we don't mean that it has a terrible pilot but terrific finale), this serialized mystery centers on a plane that suddenly reappears after mysteriously disappearing without a trace five years earlier. The series follows the lives of many of the passengers upon their return home—which turns out to be a bit awkward, since no time has passed for any of the them, so that each one feels like they had a normal, mostly uneventful flight even as their friends and families have long ago given up hope and moved on. The series comes from Jeff Rake (The Tomorrow People, The Mysteries of Laura) and is produced by Robert Zemeckis and David Frankel (The Devil Wears Prada), with the latter also directing tonight's opener.
      The Resident Drama 8p
      The Voice Reality competition 8p
      TUE / SEPTEMBER 25
      The Gifted Drama 8p
      Lethal Weapon Drama 9p
      New Amsterdam Trailer Drama 10p
All the recent critical praise lavished on reruns of ER on Hulu seems to have drawn the attention of NBC executives, who will now have two medical procedurals on the air next season. Joining the returning Chicago Med is this newcomer set at an elite medical center based on New York's real-life Bellevue, the oldest public hospital in the country. (The series is also inspired by Bellevue physician Eric Manheimer's memoir Twelve Patients, and Manheimer serves as a producer on the show.) Ryan Eggold (90210, The Blacklist) heads a cast that also includes Janet Montgomery and Tyler Labine.

      FRI / SEPTEMBER 28
      Dateline NBC Newsmagazine 10p
      The Cool Kids Comedy 8:30p
Multi-camera sitcom The Cool Kids comes from the mind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Charlie Day (along with writer Paul Fruchbom), and is produced by most of Day's Always Sunny co-stars. But don't let the title fool you: There is no one even remotely resembling a kid (or even a 20-something) in the cast. All of its stars (Vicki Lawrence, David Alan Grier, Leslie Jordan, and Martin Mull) are playing septuagenarians living in a retirement community—albeit one with as many cliques as a high school.
      Hell's Kitchen Reality 9p
      Last Man Standing Comedy 8p
The former ABC comedy series moves to Fox (after taking a year off).
      SUN / SEPTEMBER 30
